The Socratic Method

Apparently Socrates had a unique way of teaching.  His method stemmed from a belief he held regarding the way people learn.  Socrates believed that people learn best by pondering questions.  By answering those questions themselves, they arrived at their own truth.
Nearly every law school utilizes the same teaching method.  Law schools teach by asking questions.  You will rarely have a "lecture" course in law school where the Prof writes on the board, lectures, and the students simply take notes.  Law school is an interactive effort.  That means the law professor spends the entire class calling on students and eliciting their knowledge of the case by asking the student questions.  For most, being called on by the professor is a dreaded affair.
